Every year this runs because people show up early, carry things, cook, watch the gate and stay late. If that's you, tell us where you'd be useful and we'll find you a place.

Three things we'd rather you heard from us

None of them are dealbreakers for most people — but you should hear them before you put your name down, not after.

Volunteering isn't a free place. You still pay to be here, at a reduced rate — we'll tell you what that comes to for the spot you'd be in. Everyone eats, sleeps and is looked after the same; volunteers just pay less for it.
First come, first served. There are only so many positions and they go in the order people apply. Getting your name in early is genuinely the whole thing.
Where you'll sleep isn't settled yet. It could be camping, an RV, or indoors — it depends what's free when we place you, and we'll tell you before you commit to anything. If you'd rather have something more comfortable, that can usually be arranged.

Before the event

Arriving early to set the place up. Mostly Wednesday and Thursday.

Setting upGetting the barn and the grounds ready before anyone arrives — decorations, furniture, putting things out in the rooms.Loading up beforehandHelping load the trucks before we set off, from Cedarhurst or Manchester.

Arrival day

Friday afternoon, as everyone comes in. Busy for a few hours, then done.

Check-in deskScanning people in as they arrive, and helping them get set up on the app. The first face anyone sees.Showing people to their roomsWalking arrivals to where they're staying. It's a big property and the map only helps so much.Parking and shuttleDirecting cars and driving people between the parking area and the houses, roughly 1pm to 7:30pm on the Friday.Welcome packetsPutting together and handing out the arrival packets — schedule, welcome, map.

Across the event

Shifts through the three days, worked around the schedule so you don't miss it.

Kitchen and food serviceBackup hands in the kitchen through the event, wherever the meals need them.Meal setupLaying the meals out properly and putting the decor on the tables, ready well before each one starts.Tea roomKeeping the tea room going and stocked. It runs at all hours on a rotation, so you'd share it.Cleaning and tidyingKeeping the bathrooms stocked and tidy and resetting the dining room at night.Fire pitFirewood and keeping the fires going — outside the barn, inside it, and maybe one down by the stream.Grounds and forestClearing the forest paths before the event and keeping the grounds clear of litter through it.MedicalFor someone with years of experience as a medic, nurse, nurse practitioner or doctor, to be on hand during the event. Where you'll sleep isn't settled yet — camping, an RV or indoors, depending what's free when we place you.Safety teamfilledWalking the event, checking everyone's alright, on the radio with the team.

Running something

Leading a session, playing, or looking after the atmosphere.

Music, DJ and entertainmentPlaying, DJing, or leading the singing — arrivals, the meals, and after Chag.Activities and workshopsfilledRunning something of your own — yoga, a class, a walk, a workshop, whatever you're good at.Photography and mediaCapturing the event as it happens, without getting in the middle of it.

After everyone leaves

Monday afternoon and evening — packing up and getting it all home.
